Make Your Way to the Twin Cities
Explore History at the Minnehaha Depot
Historic Twin Cities
On your tour of the Twin Cities, don't miss the Minnehaha Depot. Built in 1875, the Minehaha Depot is a railroad depot that transported passengers to and from Chicago and the Twin Cities area.
Now a museum, visit the Minnehaha Depot with the whole family – it’s a swift and easy drive in from Chaska, and nearby Burnsville.
Take a stroll or drive across the famous Stone Arch Bridge in Minneapolis. Built in 1883, the bridge still is fully operational and even hosts local events like the Fourth of July fireworks show.
A popular destination year round, the Mall of America opened in 1992 and has been a staple of tourism and visitation ever since, accommodating more than 40 million annual shoppers.
After a little time spent in the mall, head to the Alexander Ramsey House in St. Paul. As the former home of Alexander Ramsey, the first governor of Minnesota, the Alexander Ramsey House is now a historical monument, offering guided tours and standing as a tribute to Victorian architecture. Make the drive in from Plymouth or Saint Cloud for a visit.
Dig a little deeper into St. Paul's history by touring the Cathedral of Saint Paul found in the historic Cathedral Hill. Free tours of the impressive structure – dating back to the early 1900s – and its surrounding grounds are offered almost daily.
