Visiting Twin Cities
The Minnesota Twin-Cities of Minneapolis - St. Paul have a long history of competition, yet the Minnesotans who live in this metro area share a common love of athleticism, celebration and arts. Some say that Minnesotans are some of the healthiest and most fit people in the U.S.A. Boasting close to 200 miles of trails, 22 city lakes and more than 330 parks - Minneapolis - St. Paul makes for a huge urban playground. With over 20 Best Western hotels in the Minnesota Twin-Cities area, finding convenient lodging after a hard day’s play is as easy as lacing up your trainers and hitting the trails.
Speaking of lacing up your trainers, why don’t we go ahead and do just that.
Start your spring by putting your best foot forward with the Medtronic TC Kids Cross Country Fun Run. On May 21st children and their families can compete in half-mile, mile and two-mile races at Como Park in St. Paul. Young athletes can have the chance to race with other runners in their same age groups, and participate in warm-ups conducted by elite runners and Minnesota members of Team USA. Every participant will receive a t-shirt, medal, free lunch and the enjoyment of post celebration entertainment provided by Radio Disney - making for a fun afternoon where every child walks away a winner.
Get ready for the Nature Valley Bicycle Festival from June 10th thru 19th. Featuring a top pro bike race, the festival will host the Nature Valley Grand Prix stage race and the Minnesota Fixed Gear Classic. One of the premiere events on the USA Cycling calendar, the race takes place in St. Paul at the Harriet Island Regional Park and downtown near the Mississippi River. Reminiscent of the famed pavé races in Europe, riders will travel over brick roads, through wineries, family farms and the city’s dynamic uptown area near the Minneapolis lakes.
So you say you love ‘bad girls’… well the Minnesota RollerGirls are some of the toughest feminine chicks in the Twin Cities. A female only flat track derby team, RollerGirls are 80 skaters deep and roll thick. You can catch them competing in at-home derby’s at the Roy Wilkins Auditorium in downtown St. Paul. Even though this is a crew of rough ladies who don’t mind tumbling on the track, the Minnesota RollerGirls shows boast kid-friendly, family-fun events.
