Visiting the Twin Cities | Spring 2015

Sports fans in the Twin Cities get a steady stream of excitement delivered all year long, and springtime means the climactic end to two major seasons. The Minnesota Timberwolves recently welcomed back superstar power forward Kevin Garnett and will continue to defend home court at the Target Center through April 15th, when the Wolves host the Oklahoma City Thunder in the last game of the 2014-2015 NBA season.

The Minnesota Wild are also nearing the end of the 2014-2015 NHL season, hosting home games at Target Center as well. Check the schedule during your Minneapolis or St. Paul stay to make sure you don’t miss any of the fast-paced action at home matchups like the March 28th game against the defending-champion LA Kings.

And not all the fun is just for the pros. The 2015 NCHC Frozen Faceoff brings collegiate teams from all over the country to face off in the semifinals and finals at the Target Arena on May 20th and 21st.

Self-proclaimed “nerds” come to the Twin Cities in droves this May for two giant celebrations of all things pop culture. May 1st through 3rd, the 2015 Wizard World Comic Con Minneapolis draws big crowds Minneapolis Convention Center with special exhibits, book signings, and celebrity appearances.

Then, the nerd heard heads to Minnesota State Fairgrounds on May 16th and 17th for the 2015 MSP ComiCon, where organizers promise “Something for Everyone and Everyone is Welcome.”

Bikers bask in spring’s wonderful weather by participating in Bike MS: Sam’s Club Twin Cities Ride 2015, part America’s biggest fundraising bike ride series. Riders gather at Summit Brewery and choose between 15-, 25-, or 50-mile routes through St. Paul, pedaling to funds towards multiple sclerosis research.

With summertime on the horizon, country music fans are eager to cut loose at the 2015 Winstock Music Festival, held at the Winstead Fairgrounds near Minneapolis, June 12th and 13th. The festival features big-name headliners like the Band Perry, Alabama, Jake Owen, and many more.
