Visiting Twin Cities

Summer’s officially over when “the Great Minnesota Get Together” returns to Saint Paul. The 2014 Minnesota State Fair marks the end of vacation fun with rides, games, exhibits and Grandstand entertainment. Then, the fun continues in the Twin Cities and gateway communities with fresh fall and winter events and entertainment.

Sports fans are in for an exciting fall in the Twin Cities. After starting slow when NFL football returned in September, the Minnesota Vikings are looking for redemption. The all-new Vikings Stadium is under construction, so in the mean time, fans can catch the heart-pounding action at TCF Bank Stadium, on the University of Minnesota campus in Minneapolis. Home games are select Sundays through December 28th, when they host the Bears to close out the 2014 season.

Hockey fans head east 10 miles to the Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul for the excitement of NHL hockey and the Minnesota Wild on their home ice. The multi-purpose Xcel Center is conveniently located near the Roy Wilkins Auditorium and the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts, adding excitement and life to downtown Saint Paul.

Running enthusiasts set their marks on the 2014 Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon Sunday, October 5th. Touted as the most beautiful urban marathon in America, the Twin Cities Marathon course takes runners from the start near Mall of America Field, in downtown Minneapolis, along parkways, lakes, rivers, and past thousands of cheering fans. The marathon finish is at the State Capitol in Saint Paul.

South of the Twin Cities, The community of Eagan is home to Holz Farm, offering visitors a step back to rural life. Events at the farm include 2014 Lone Oak Days on September 20th and 21st – perfect for a family outing. Pony rides, hayrides, food, and entertainment make for a great day in Eagan. Then, return to Holz Farm in December for the Old Fashioned Holiday Celebration.
