Visiting Twin Cities

Say a traditional goodbye to summer with a visit to the Minnesota State Fair. The 2012 fair concludes Labor Day after 12 days of fun. The Minnesota State Fairgrounds are located on the Minneapolis side of St. Paul north of I-94 and south of Highway 36. Grandstand headliners include Rascal Flatts, Anita Baker, Wiz Khalifa and Mac Miller, along with free entertainment throughout the fairgrounds. Families enjoy the Midway, Kidway and a diversity of exhibitions, at the Minnesota State Fair. Fall in the Twin Cities features festivals and events from the Twin Cities Marathon to Frightmares at Buck Hill.

Minneapolis and St. Paul celebrate their heritage and culture at events like the 2012 Czech and Slovak Fall Festival, and the Festa Italiana Minnesota. The 23rd Annual Czech and Slovak Festival is Sunday, September 16th. A full day of family fun with folk music, dancing, food and exhibits, the Czech and Slovak festival, join the fun at the International Institute of Minnesota.

Celebrate all things Italian, at the 2012 Festa Italiana September 21st and 22nd. Ride an Italian motor bike through Saint Paul’s historic Italian levee neighborhood, float down the Mississippi River on a Gondola, and enjoy a game of Bocce Ball as you honor St. Paul’s Italian heritage. The festival is held on St. Paul’s Harriet Island, featuring Twin Cities’ best Italian fare along with traditional and classic music and fun.

A fall tradition, the Medtornic Twin Cities Marathon is October 7th. The 2012 Marathon is the 31st annual marathon, and starts near the Metrodome in Minneapolis. The point-to-point course takes runners from downtown Minneapolis to the State Capitol building in St. Paul. Events also include 10-mile, 10K, 5K, and family runs ranging from the Diaper Dash to the Diana Pierce Family Mile. The Twin Cities Marathon is a great event for the active family.

Halloween in Bloomington - for the kids, the world’s largest indoor trick or treat event; and for you, the comfort and safety of Bloomington’s Mall of America. Dress in your 2012 costume and join the mall's Halloween parade at 5:30 pm, on October 31st. After the costume contest let the kids trick-or-treat in more than 150 Mall of America stores. Pick-up your treat bag at the Nordstrom Court and off you go on a convenient, safe and bountiful Halloween.

Visit Minnesota’s top haunted attraction any October weekend in Burnsville. South of Minneapolis off I-35 you’ll find Frightmares at Buck Hill. A must for Halloween enthusiasts, Frightmares features Haunted Hollow, Orchard Manor Dead & Breakfast and the Scream Scene, among the attractions. Enjoy dinner and drinks onsite at Tucker’s, take in a magic show in the Halls of Magic and relax and listen to live music. Burnsville is the place to be October weekends.
