Minnesota Hotel Reservations
As Minnesota uncovers itself from its white winter blanket, all sorts of opportunities for outdoor adventure arise. There’s still time for cold-weather activities at destinations like Detroit Mountain and Mount Kato Ski Area, but as temperatures rise, so does the excitement level for this season’s countless special events, festivals, and family-friendly activities.
Warming weather means it’s a great time to get out and explore Minnesota’s lake-laden landscape on a scenic driving tour. Communities like Duluth, Silver Bay and Grand Marais make great day trip destinations for northerly visitors, and those exploring the southern side of the state will want to stop in places like Mankato and Albert Lea. In either direction, countless roadside attractions, and, of course, tons of great fishing spots, await.
Stay in Duluth to craft your own goblet at Lake Superior Art Glass on March 12th. The special Wine Goblet Making Class offers a chance for fans of fine fermentations to learn a new skill and be rewarded with a glass of wine when they finish.
Wine may be absent from the bellies of celebrators on March 17 in Bemidji – it’ll more likely be green beer they’re drinking. The World’s Shortest Parade 2016 is a St. Patrick’s Day party, with a parade route spanning only 72 feet, eight inches. The convivial convoy makes its way from Brigid's Pub to the Keg n' Cork Irish Pub in downtown Bemidji, starting at 5 p.m.
Still thirsty? Make your way to the Great Depot Hall at the Duluth Depot on April 28th for the Minnesota Ballet's Wine & Cheese event. Sample wines and micro-brews along with their perfect food pairings, all for a good cause. The pours flow from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Work all that wine and cheese off in a wacky way on April 30th in Mankato. The 2016 Halfway to Halloween Costume 5K gathers costumed runners at Caswell Park before sending them off along their choice of 5K and 2.5-mile courses.
