Wild, Twins & Vikings
Fans from all over the Gopher State have no shortage of thrilling professional sporting events to choose from.
Winter, fall, spring, and summer – teams are taking the field – or rink – year-round in the Twin Cities.
America’s favorite sport, NFL football, has had a longstanding place in the great state of Minnesota.
An open-air stadium, TCF Bank lets fans experience the mystique of outdoor NFL football, as the Vikes take on NFC North rivals the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers from September into January.
Basketball fans won’t be left out in the cold this winter, as the NBA’s Minnesota Timberwolves offer plenty of excitement in the comfort of the Target Center in downtown Minny. The T-Wolves play 41 home games from October to April each year.
When the Wolves call it a season, the Lynx of the WNBA are just getting their game on. The Minnesota Lynx also defend home court in downtown’s Target Center, playing home games from May through September. The Lynx are considered must-see basketball, having won multiple WNBA Championships since their inaugural season in 1999.
Also during the summer, newly constructed Target Field is a must-see attraction for visiting sports fans. The Minnesota Twins take the field from April through September, defending their home ballpark against American League Central foes across 81 home games.
And finally, what would the Land of 10,000 Lakes be without a little ice hockey? Established in 1997, the Minnesota Wild, play host raucous home games at the Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul. Travel in from Oakdale, White Bear Lake, or Eagan for some of the action this winter.
