Explore the Land of 10,000 Lakes

From the shores of Lake Minnetonka, to the depths of Lake Superior, there’s a wealth of fishing options for anglers visiting Minnesota – there are literally thousands of lakes. Explore the North Star State on your next fishing and outdoor excursion, and take advantage of these lakes in particular.

Lake Superior is the largest of all the lakes – it stretches across all of northern Wisconsin, and into Canadian waters. Northern Minnesota cities Grand Marais, and Deluth are set just along the western shore of Lake Superior, and yield the easiest access to the lake. Thief River Falls, and Bemidji are the next nearest cities, set to the west – enjoy the scenic drive.

Otter Tail Lake is more centrally located in Minnesota, and much smaller than Lake Superior, reaching a total of 21-square miles. Fergus Falls, a charming little city, is set to the west, and Alexandria is south of Otter Tail Lake. Other anglers travel in from Detroit Lakes, situated to the north.

Mille Lacs Lake, the second largest lake in Minnesota, is set virtually in between Lake Superior and Otter Tail Lake – and north of Minneapolis. Cast your favorite bait and be patient – the selection of smallmouth bass, northern pike, and walleye are sure to nibble an investigation.

Just west of the Minneapolis is Lake Minnetonka, a very large, and very popular destination for anglers, and boating enthusiast, alike. Measuring at more than 14,000 acres in area, and totally 125 miles of shoreline, Lake Minnetonka is the ideal location for summer time aquatic adventures with the family, or a serene ice fishing trip during the winter. Make the trip in from nearby Chaska, Eden Prairie, or Plymouth, set to the north of Lake Minnetonka.
