Venture across Minnesota and discover a wide world of great shopping destinations. The Mall of America is a must-visit attraction in Bloomington, while northern Minnesota visitors will no doubt peruse the deals at Mill Hill Mall in Duluth.
1. Mall of America
Malls come in all sizes, shapes, and varieties – Bloomington's Mall of America weighs in as the largest shopping mall in the United States. Opened in 1992, the Mall of America features four floors on the south and east wings, and three floors to explore on the north and west wings. There are more than 520 stores, and 2.5 million square feet of retail space.
You can find the Mall of America just inland of Long Meadow Lake, off of Highway 77 and Interstate 494. Anchor stores at the Mall of America include Macy's, Sears, Nordstrom, and Best Buy. On level one, be sure to visit the Nickelodeon Universe, while level three features two food courts – there is also an amusement park.
2. River Hills Mall
Make the most of your time exploring Minnesota and venture into Mankato – be sure to spend an afternoon at the River Hills Mall. Whether you're looking to pick up a few souvenirs, a new addition to your fall lineup of pullover sweaters, or some nice sleeping pants, River Hills Mall will not disappoint.
Found east of downtown Mankato along Adams Street, just south of State Route 60, River Hills Mall opened in 1991. It features more than 95 stores, 814,000 square feet of retail space, and is anchored by JCPenny, Scheels All Sports, Sears, Barnes & Noble, and Herberger's.
3. Paul Bunyan Mall
Plan a visit to northern Minnesota and stay in the charming city of Bemidji. Here, along with warm and welcoming locals, you'll find the Paul Bunyan Mall. Found just west of the Lake Bemidji shore, Paul Bunyan Mall is a short drive from the Bemidji Regional Airport, and the Bemidji Community Arena. Paul Bunyan Mall opened in 1977, is spread across one floor, and has 32 stores to shop.
4. The Shoppes at Arbor Lakes
Enjoy the Nickelodeon Universe
Opened in 2003, The Shoppes features an array of your favorite upscale chains spread throughout more than 400,000 square feet of space. Technically known as a lifestyle center, you're sure to find just what you need at The Shoppes.
5. Miller Hill Mall
With anchor destinations like Younkers, JCPenny, and Sears, the Miller Hill Mall in Duluth is a premier destination for shoppers visiting northwestern Minnesota.
Accessed easily from Highway 53, and only minutes inland from Lake Superior, Miller Hill Mall is a must-shop. Opened in 1973, and then expanded in 1987, Mill Hill Mall features more than 100 stores at any given time.
6. Kandi Mall
When you draw up plans to visit Minnesota, don't pass on a stay in Willmar. Home to some very inviting attractions, Willmar is sure to entertain all members of the family. When you're looking to find some of the best deals and steals around, head for the Kandi Mall.
With 52 stores in total, Kandi Mall is the premier shopping destination in Willmar. You can find Kandi Mall between Willmar Avenue SE and 19th Avenue SE, just west of Pleasant View Park – all directly south of downtown Willmar.
7. Maplewood Mall
When your visit to Minnesota has you in Saint Paul, be sure to check out the shops and stores at Maplewood Mall. Built in 1974, Maplewood Mall is a mainstay of the community, with more than 931,000 square feet of retail space. There are two floors to explore at Maplewood Mall, so make sure you pack those boots made for walkin'. Visit anchor stores like Kohl's, Sears, Macy's, or JCPenny and find a few new additions to your travel wardrobe.
8. Twin Cities Premium Outlets
Many Eagan and Burnsville bargain shoppers make frequent visits to the Twin Cities Premium Outlets. Found west of downtown Eagan, the Twin Cities Premium Outlets is accessed easily from State Route 77, and is a short walk or drive from nearby Woodhaven Park.
You'll find more than 100 outlet and discount stores at the Twin Cities Premium Outlets – don't miss exciting top brands like J.Crew, Polo Ralph Lauren, and Cole Haan.
Explore the Southdale Center in Edina
9. Southdale Center
The Southdale Center, known to many locals simply as Southdale, is arguably the most exceptional shopping destination in all of Edina – and another favorite of Burnsville shoppers.
Drive in from nearby Eden Prairie and shop the 123 different stores found across 1.3 million square feet of retail space. Be sure to explore any of the four anchor locations – Macy's, JCPenny, Herberger's, and Gordmans.
10. Westridge Mall
Head into Fergus Falls and check out WestRidge Mall. Since 1985, WestRidge Mall has been offering Fergus Falls locals and visitors alike all the best deals on retail and more. Not only do many visit WestRidge Mall of their shopping needs, they also take advantage of the in-mall vision centers, tanning salons, and health clinics.
The WestRidge Theatre features screenings of the latest blockbusters from Hollywood, and there are a number of events held here throughout the year. Don't miss the Lake Radio Build Con Show in February, or the Ladies Day Out Show, also in February.
11. Lake Superior Trading Post
In the far north of Minnesota, visit the city of Grand Marais. Found along the western shores of Lake Gitchegumee, more commonly known as Lake Superior, Grand Marais is home to the Lake Superior Trading Post. You can find it near East Bay and just north of Artist's Point, just off of State Route 61.
Though less of a mall, and more of a, well, trading post, this location features a charm all of its own. Opened in 1971 by brothers Ed and John Viren, the Lake Superior Trading Post supplies locals and visitors with the necessities and plenty of fun and charming souvenirs.
