Grand Portage National Monument

Visit the Grand Portage National Monument Visitor Center, located on Lake Superior's north shore, to learn more about the Ojibwe culture. The eight and half mile Grand Portage footpath was the site of the historic French-Canadian Voyageurs trade route. View the galleries and exhibits depicting the stories of the North American Fur Trade.

Enjoy strolling the grounds on a walking tour of the monument. Listen to a National Park Service ranger, in period costume, talk about the rich history of northern Minnesota. Be sure to visit the historic gardens in the Ojibwe Village that were maintained at each fur post.
